The 2023 Lighting Call was part of the Ventana Sur cycle in Santiago.
It was an initiative of the Cuerpo Sur Foundation in collaboration with the Estación Mapocho Cultural Center (CCEM) to encourage the creation of young companies, providing a rehearsal room to place their practices and work in progress.
The call ended with the presentation in January 2024, with three groups selected to develop their proposals in the rehearsal room coordinated by the Fundación Cuerpo Sur at CCEM. The initiative also had the collaboration of Paisaje Público, Goethe Institut Chile, Red Compartir, Balmaceda Arte Joven and Fundación Santiago Off.
"De la Ceniza a la Flor" | "From Ashes to Flowers" - Colectivo Bala Perdida
Bala Perdida is an interdisciplinary artistic collective whose purpose is to produce works and physical, sound and creative investigations. It is made up of Diego Ruz, sound engineer; Magdalena Andrade, performer in contemporary dance; and Maura Andrade, student of contemporary dance, graduates and students of the University of Chile.
Bala Perdida arises with the interest of exploring stage experimentation beyond a single creative line, allowing them to delve into notions such as body, identity, territory, presence, interdiscipline and historiography, among others.
"De la ceniza a la flor" (From the Ashes to Flower) tells the life of Celmira Martínez, a Mapuche woman whose experiences were crossed by the period of military occupation of Wallmapu by the Chilean State. This story is a temporal braid that seeks to tell the story of her life, her death and her relationship with the Mapuche world and the Wingka/Western world, through a sensitive journey, combining fantastic, symbolic and dreamlike elements.
Gaviota - Colectivo La Disvariada
La Disvariada (sic) is an interdisciplinary collective, made up of musicians, actors and designers. The concept of Disvariada was created from a phonetic deformation of the word "desvarío", spanish for delirium, defined as "temporary loss of reason". This identity as a collective is reflected in the need to explore the communicative and experiential possibilities of theatre.
The “Gaviota” project consists of a stage investigation that originates from the reading of the work La Gaviota (The Seagull) by Antón Chejov and the political and identity crisis left by the constitutional processes in Chile arising from the social outbreak. What are new ways? Do we feel represented after 18-O?
With practice as research, we seek to account for these problems that got through us as a collective and generation, in turn interspersing, to a greater or lesser extent, with the crises that cross the characters of the work.
“Radioafectiva: ¿cómo suena el amor hoy?” | Radioaffective: what does love sound like today? - Colectivo Radioafectiva
Radioaffective is a transdisciplinary project consisting of Sebastian Chandía (scenic and media artist), Esteban Cerda (stage artist) Josefina Cerda (sound designer and actress ), Carolina Díaz (stage artist and singer), Fernanda Errada (stage designer), Nikolas Lagos (stage artist), Francisco Sánchez (songwriter) Raisa Johnson (lyrical singer) and Nicole Vial (stage artist and singer), mostly alumni and alumni of the University of Chile. This research and creation group meets under the premise of horizontality, humor and transdisciplinary as maximums in its creative process, with the aim of answering from various materials to the questions that arise from the relationship between affectivity and art.
Radioafectiva is an interdisciplinary performance that links bodies, sound technologies and musical repertoire from the radio imaginary as a means of emotional education and socialization.
Just as the boleros and ballads, songbooks, radio soap operas and radio programs of yesteryear built a sensibility typical of an era, in Radioafectiva the performers play and are crossed by new musical styles and technical resources in a meme, viral and podcast key, answering the question: How does love sound today?
